In an effort to keep the public and business community informed on the economy of the region, The Regional District of Central Okanagan’s Economic Development Commission (COEDC) – the region’s primary business resource – commissioned an Agriculture Asset Inventory and Agriculture Sector Report.

The Agriculture Asset Inventory provides a comprehensive list of resources available in the region to support the agriculture sector and includes detailed information such as: research infrastructure, funding supports, key individuals (research and expertise), available resources, and support organizations including accelerators/incubators. The Agriculture Sector Report provides an enhanced understanding of current trends and pressures in the agriculture sector.

The Agriculture Asset Inventory and Agriculture Sector Report were released to industry on Friday November 15, 2019 as part of the formal agenda during the Agriculture Producers Coffee Social an annual event hosted by the COEDC. The social promotes networking for operators in the region as well as connecting operators with the breadth of services available for the agriculture sector through the COEDC.

“The Agriculture Asset Inventory highlights the many supports available to the agriculture operators in the Region. The Central Okanagan has a strong and diverse agriculture sector – from production to agri-food processing to the pleasure of enjoying local foods – it’s all here now!” Corie Griffiths, Director, Economic Development and Bylaw Services

These resources support the continued growth and sustainability of agriculture as a foundational sector of the Central Okanagan economy. The project was funded with matching funding from Global Affairs Canada as the Agriculture Asset Inventory serves as a tool to support local business needs and attract investment to the region.
