SUMMARY:Radon in the Workplace Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Take Action on Radon- Get a free detector to test your workplace. \n  \nRadon is a gas that you cannot see\, smell\, or taste — but it can be dangerous. Radon is the leading cause of lung cancer in non-smokers\, and greatly multiplies the risk for smokers. \nThe indoor levels of radon in any indoor space\, new\, old\, renovated\, office\, leisure or workplace buildings cannot be predicted. Therefore\, all indoor environment (home\, work\, leisure) space needs to be tested for radon by conducting a long-term test (minimum 91 days) during the Winter heating season\, in the lowest level of the home or building that is occupied >4 hours per day. \nEmployers are responsible to ensure a safe environment for their clients and workers. If you or your employees work in an indoor environment\, you should test your workplace for radon. \nThe 2023 radon test kit program is focused on general workplaces and Medical and Healthcare professional buildings/ offices. If your workplace is located within Central Okanagan (the City of Kelowna\, Regional District of Central Okanagan\, District of Peachland\, City of West Kelowna\, Westbank First Nation and the District of Lake Country)\, you can\, while supplies last\, get a free radon detector to test your office this Fall by pre-registering here. \nFor more information\, join the free Lunch and Learn webinar “Radon in the Workplace” on June 7\, 2023\, at 12:00 pm PT. \nIf you have any questions\, please contact Pam Warkentin\, CARST Executive Director\, info@carst.ca\, or at 204-798-9649. \nFor more information about the Central Okanagan radon test kit program\, Community Report Results\, and a current radon mitigation grant\, please visit rdco.com/airquality.

SUMMARY:Town Hall | Tomorrow’s Industry Today: Technology\, Skills Training\, and Safety
DESCRIPTION:MAY 25TH\, 2023 10:30-12:00PM\n\n\n\n\nTECHNOLOGY INVESTMENTS IN DIGITIZATION\, AUTOMATION\, ROBOTICS\, AND AI ARE DRIVING A SEA CHANGE FOR INDUSTRY.\n\n\n\n\n\nTechnology investments in digitization\, automation\, robotics\, and AI are driving a sea change for industry. They are reshaping production facilities. Eliminating hazardous jobs. Changing hiring and training requirements. And these changes are creating increasing demand for new skills\, retraining\, and risk assessments.  \nIn the manufacturing and food processing sector\, leading employers are addressing the hiring crisis in part through investments in automation and AI solutions to improve throughput while eliminating many health and safety risks for workers. But for many in the sector\, major technology upgrades remain out of reach.  \nBritish Columbia’s 2023 budget earmarked $480 million in new provincial funding to help build a workforce prepared to meet the demands of the future through skills training\, and labour market solutions. And an expanded $90 million in provincial grants program for manufacturing provides a new route for small to medium-sized companies to pursue technology upgrades for safe and sustainable operation. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this webinar you will learn\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this industry town hall:  \n\nSee how companies are leveraging automation to grow their production capacity despite workforce shortages—and offer team members safer\, more engaging work.\n \nFind out how new technology has changed their hiring needs\, re-training approaches\, and health and safety programs.
